QUESTIONS
- What is a Yeshiva?
Yeshiva is
the Hebrew name for an institute of religious higher education. Traditionally,
a Yeshiva is a place to prepare for ministry also. The purpose of MBI Yeshiva
is to properly prepare people for Messianic ministry.
- What kind of school is MBI Yeshiva?
Christian? Jewish?
Messianic Bible Institute - Yeshiva is a
Messianic Jewish/Hebrew university with elements of Jewish and Christian
teachings, forming a distinctive entity which harkens back to the first
century of Jewish followers of Messiah. We adhere to the Jewishness of
Scriptural conduct and faith in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). More...
- Must I be Jewish to be
admitted?
Absolutely not! Anyone may be admitted who is 18 or
older and accepts Messiah Yeshua.
- What can I do here online?
The
MBI Yeshiva online site is a distance education (correspondence) school that
uses the Internet for the main interface of the school with students. You need
an active e-mail address for contact purposes to attend the school.
- Is MBI Yeshiva accredited?
MBI Yeshiva
is accredited with Transworld Accrediting Commission. MBI
Yeshiva is registered as a "religious education only" post-secondary
school with the Virginia Council on Higher Education (see
letter of exemption).
- Is MBI Yeshiva associated with any other
Messianic ministry?
We are a wholly owned auxilliary of
Messianic Bureau International. MBI
Yeshiva as an institution is operated completely separately from any other
ministry (except MBI). MBI Yeshiva is not associated with MJAA, UMJC,
or MIA, yet MBI Yeshiva is glad to accept their Yeshiva credits and
participation of their constituents. MBI
Yeshiva is not associated with Messiah Biblical Institute of Tikkun
Ministries, neither is it associated with Moody Bible Institute, both of which
also use the initials MBI.
- Does MBI Yeshiva have financial
aid?
Yes. We only accept scholarships directed for students (as
tax deductible contribution), and we will give consultation to students to
help them raise their own funds funds from donors.
- Is there an MBI Yeshiva
campus?
MBI Yeshiva does not have
a campus, but periodically holds local classes, special meetings or
conferences at the central headquarters building in Newport News, Virginia.
Local students must also take our correspondence courses to recieve enough
credits to earn a degree.
- Are there Veterans Benefits
available?
We are working
diligently toward that goal.
- What qualifications are required to be
admitted? (More on Registrar

The Messianic Certificate program
requires only that you be at least 18 years old. To qualify for the
Bachelor program you need to have
graduated from High School, or obtained a GED, or have earned a Messianic
Certificate, or an Associate Degree (of any type), or have prior earned 30
credits. The Master program requires at least 90 undergraduate credits, or an
earned Bachelor degree (of any type). The Doctoral program requires that you already have earned a Master's degree and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average. All students must confess trust in
Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah to be admitted.
- How many courses should one take a
semester?
There are no required semesters in MBI Yeshiva, yet semester
programs are available. Students work at their own pace and convenience. Three
courses are to be completed per year to stay on the active list.
Otherwise, the student will need to pay a reactivation fee ($25.00) to
continue. We advise against attempting more than 30 credits per

- Does ministry experience count for
credit?
Yes. Your ministry experience can be applied as
accelerated credits. The amount accepted depends on the years and the
intensity of ministry. Accelerated credits may be applied up to
one third of the total credits needed for graduation. Accelerated
credits are billed at fifty percent of tuition.
- Are there other courses available besides those
shown on the enrollment
form?
There will be. Instructors are constantly developing new
courses, and we guarantee there will be enough for anyone to complete their
studies for graduation. As courses are ready, they will be posted on the
enrollment form
